The country cannot bear the cost! We’re not going to the Independence Day celebration! Maddumabandara, General Secretary of the SJB, makes a special statement!

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa have decided to boycott the 75th Independence Day celebrations to be held in Galle mouth tomorrow.

SJB General Secretary Mr. Ranjith Madduma Bandara said that nobody including opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa will participate in this ceremony.

He added that we have received invitations for this event but no one from our party will attend.

The reason given for this strike is the party’s ideology that money should not be wasted to celebrate independence at a time when the country is in an economic crisis.
