As reported during the search operations carried out in Mr. Sisila Kumara, the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Monaragala Division, official residence many more illegal items were discovered.
Earlier it was reported the SSP was arrested and remanded for allegedly hiding a stock of ganja parcels under the ceiling of his official residence, further searched the official residence of Mr. Sisila Kumara and found thirty-seven bottles of different types of liquor produced in foreign countries and gifts items from various police stations. Monaragala headquarters police said that they found eighteen boxes (hampers) that were said to have been given to him by various parties.
A senior police officer said that it appears that these gift boxes taken into police custody were given to the Senior Superintendent of Police on the first of January on the occasion of the New Year.
Apart from this, 5 logs found in the premises of the official residence of the Senior Superintendent of Police have also been taken into police custody.
The police are making arrangements to present all these before the court as evidence.
