Ambanpola police reported that a student who appeared for the scholarship examination was abducted by a motorcyclist on her way home.

The student has appeared for the examination at the examination center of Ambanpola Madhya Maha Vidyalaya. She appeared for this examination as a student of Abakolawewa Kanitu College in the Higher Education Zone. She is a resident of Ambanpola Amunugama village.

After the scholarship exam, she went to Amunugama Junction in a small lorry with her friends. Since then, on the way to her home on foot, a stranger came on a motorcycle and asked her to drop her home.

The motorcycle that went near the house has turned to another way after seeing the house. The motorcyclist stated that he would provide the school equipment to the student and travelled along the Ambanpola Ahetuwewa road with the student.

When the student tried to scream, she was told that she would die if she screamed. The motorcycle that turned towards Eriya village from Nakolagane Junction went a short distance and turned into the forest area at the entrance to Eriya village. The motorcyclist who had gone a short distance saw a student who was going to Sunday school, stopped the motorcycle in the forest area and ran away leaving the student behind.

The Dhamma school student and several people who were traveling on the road saw the student and went to the place to inquire about the matter. The villagers came to know about the incident and called the girl’s father to the spot.

The villagers called the police officers to the spot. On the instructions of Ambanpola Police Station Inspector Saman Perera, police officers including female police inspector Herath are conducting further investigations.

The Ambanpola police said that the CCTV footage on both sides of the road will also be checked to trace the suspect.
