As football fans across the world are heading towards Doha, Qatar, for 2022 FIFA World Cup this weekend, they will be paying the highest price ever for the tickets, a study reveals.

The soccer fans attending the World Cup matches in Qatar will be paying nearly 40 percent more for match tickets compared to those who watched the 2018 edition in Russia.

Tickets for the finals would cost about US$ 812 on average, reported Reuters.
As per the guidelines, the highest price for the ticket will be around 5854.73 Qatari riyal while the lowest would be 200.23 Qatari riyal.

Keller Sports said the ticket prices in Qatar are the most expensive ever for the World Cup games in the last 20 years, with those for the final 59 percent higher than four years ago.

“The World Cup in Qatar is already considered the most expensive World Cup ever. The construction of six new stadiums and the complete renovation of two other arenas in the country are said to have cost around US $3 billion,” the study said.Much more money was spent on expanding the infrastructure of the capital Doha, such as transport routes and the reconstruction of the international airport.

“It is hardly surprising that the World Cup in Qatar is also the World Cup with the most expensive tickets on average,” it added. FIFA is yet to give an official comment in this regard. FIFA had earlier said nearly three million tickets across the eight stadiums in Qatar had been sold ahead of the November 20-December 18 World Cup.
Qatar is the first country in the Middle East to host FIFA World Cup.
