The petitioner is the general manager of a leading private institution in Sri Lanka, and the respondent is the Attorney General.

Furthermore, the petitioner stated that the proposed bill reduces the monthly income limit for which a person must pay tax from two hundred and fifty thousand rupees to one hundred thousand rupees.

The petition also states that there will be a discouragement in areas such as exports, local industries, and development activities.
