Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK leader Thalapathy Vijay has expelled TVK Chengalpet East District Joint Secretary NV Weera, alias Veerasamy, from the party over allegations of accepting bribes.
Weera, who was the president of the Mambakkam Panchayat Union in Chengalpet district, has denied the allegations.
Later that night, he was taken into police custody for questioning.
