Turkish Embassy Golf Tournament

January 25th 2026, Royal Colombo Golf Club

On Sunday, 25 January 2026, His Excellency Ambassador Dr Semih Lütfü Turgut, organized a Golf Tournament at the Colombo Royal Golf Club, bringing together 44 players for the event. This is the 2nd Friendly Golf Tournament organized by the Turkish Embassy on January 25th 2026 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club in Sri Lanka with 44 golf participants from various business sectors to interact with each other while playing and thereafter social get together at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye and prize giving ceremony.

The Tournament was a Stableford Scoring System and the Trophies were given to the following winners: 

1. The Champion Trophy won by Air Chief Marshall Sudarshana Pathirana, retired Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and former Ambassador to Nepal during 2023/24

2. The Runner-up Trophy was won by Mrs. Deepani Gamage a staff of Swiss Embassy

3. The Longest Drive Men’s Category at the 8th Fairway was won by Captain Navin de Silva of Srilankan Airlines

4. The Longest Drive Ladies Category at the 8th Fairway was won by Ms. Daranie Rajapaksha

 5. The Nearest to Pin at the 9th Hole was won by Mr. Sidath Wettiimuny; Srilankan Cricket Legend, former Cricket Champion the first Sri Lankan to make the famous Lord’s Honours Boards when he hit 190 runs at Lords Cricket Stadium in 1984.

The tournament was held with the aim of further strengthening the longstanding friendly ties between the people of Sri Lanka and Türkiye. The event, which was marked by a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, was attended by golf enthusiasts. The tournament concluded successfully, underscoring the growing goodwill and cooperation between the two nations. Attended by many famous businessmen, government officials, Ambassadors/High Commissioners and RCGC Club President Capt. Navin de Silva and Club Capitan Gehan Seribathana.
