The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has issued a statement asserting that President Ranil Wickramasinghe is likely to finish in third or fourth place in this year’s presidential election, predicting his defeat.
The statement emphasizes that voting for Wickramasinghe would be a wasted vote. It further criticizes his leadership, claiming that he has weakened the United National Party (UNP) over the past 30 years, even failing to contest under the traditional elephant symbol.
The SJB urges voters to support its leader, Sajith Premadasa, a long-standing member of the UNP, arguing that this election presents a rare opportunity for the country to elect a UNP president after three decades. The statement encourages voters to contribute to Premadasa’s victory.
