Dr. Ajith Amarasinghe, a prominent specialist, has officially resigned from his positions as a member and chairman of the United Republic Front.
In a formal letter addressed to General Secretary K.A. Bandula, Dr. Amarasinghe announced his decision to step down, which has been forwarded to Chandrasekara for further action.
In a related development, Engineer Sampath Sumedha Pujitha Ratnayake, the United Republic Front’s National Organizer, is contesting the upcoming parliamentary election in the Gampaha District under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya alliance. His candidacy comes as a protest against the Politburo’s decision not to participate in this election.
Additionally, former Provincial Council Minister Gayan Nishantha Sri Varnasinghe, who previously served as a senior vice president of the United Republic Front, will be running in the Colombo District under the ‘Cylinder’ symbol in this year’s parliamentary elections.
