During the ongoing election period, there have been significant reports of crimes. Police Media Spokesperson DIG Attorney Nihal Talduwa informed Mawrata that, as of last Thursday, the police had received 240 cases of violations related to the presidential election laws, with 67 suspects already arrested.
DIG Talduwa also highlighted that 99 of these complaints involved criminal offenses. Additionally, the police have confiscated six suspicious vehicles.
In efforts to maintain order, the police have removed a substantial amount of illegal campaign materials: 464,869 illegal posters, 1,311 cutouts, and 1,258 banners. Furthermore, 5,784 illegal election-related leaflets have been taken down by the authorities.
