Tamil Nadu Sanctions ₹150 Crore for Thangachimadam Harbour; CM Stalin Slams PM Modi Over Fishermen Issue
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a significant move aimed at ensuring the safety of Indian fishermen, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the construction of a new fishing harbour at Thangachimadam on Rameswaram Island. The initiative is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to prevent attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and to promote deep sea fishing in the southern waters of the Indian Ocean.

Speaking in the State Assembly, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin confirmed that the government has already sanctioned ₹150 crore for the harbour project. He also expressed strong criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to address the issue of Tamil Nadu fishermen with the Sri Lankan government during his recent visit to the island nation over the weekend.
