A gazette notice has been issued again making electricity, petroleum and hospitals essential services. It was by President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake on the order of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Accordingly, all services related to electricity supply, petroleum products and fuel supply or distribution will become essential services.
In addition, all service work or labor of any description required or to be performed in connection with the maintenance and reception, care, feeding and treatment of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and other similar institutions are made essential services. It is further stated.
