Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as U.S. president, lauding him as a “courageous man.”

Putin praised Trump during a ceremony in Sochi, Russia, recounting the challenges Trump faced both during his initial presidency and his campaign for re-election. “When Trump first came to the White House, everyone surrounded and attacked him. He didn’t give in. When he sought the presidency again, there were even attempts on his life, but he didn’t yield. He was undeterred by the threat of defeat,” Putin remarked.

Trump has pledged that if he returns to the White House, he will swiftly address the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, claiming he could broker a solution within a single day. Putin acknowledged this, expressing interest in hearing the specifics of Trump’s proposed approach to the ongoing crisis.
