Policemen Caught Dining with Drug Dealers Arrested by Their Colleagues I  Sri Lanka Latest News

A team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department has arrested a sub-inspector attached to the Mawathagama police station and a sergeant attached to the Dorutiyawa police station who were involved with drug traffickers. Sri Lanka Latest News

According to police sources, they were arrested by a team of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department as per the instructions of the Inspector General of Police after the facts regarding these officers were revealed during the interrogation of a suspect who was arrested and held for drug trafficking by the Mawathagama Police Station.

It has been revealed that the arrested sub-inspector Amila Lasantha Kumara Pathirana (age 56) has been in contact via WhatsApp with a person from Dubai Sampath who is distributing drugs to the surrounding areas of Kurunegala.

Also, Police Sergeant 75048 Suneth Dushmantha Dissanayake (Aug. 38) is an officer attached to Omanthaya Police Station who was temporarily on duty at Dorutia Police Station.

As per the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, along with the ongoing justice operations across the province, it has been revealed that instructions have been given to the relevant higher officials to take strict legal action against the police officers involved in drug trafficking and corrupt activities.

The Police Headquarters further states that these suspects will be kept in the Criminal Investigation Department for questioning.
