The National People’s Power (NPP) has officially submitted its deposit for the upcoming local government election for the Colombo Municipal Council.

Ms. Vrai Kelly Balthasar has been named as the party’s mayoral candidate. Expressing confidence in her campaign, she stated that she is capable of securing a significant victory in both the local government election and the general election.

Balthasar noted that while Colombo was traditionally considered a stronghold of the green political faction, the political landscape has now shifted. She further stated that this local government election may not witness intense competition, as the previous political dynamics have been dismantled.

Emphasizing the importance of urban governance, she highlighted that gaining power in metropolitan areas is crucial for the success of the party’s broader national-level program.
