MP Rohini Kumari Wijeratne Questions Parliament on Bypassing Qualified Woman for Attorney General Position, Criticizes Government’s Stance on Women’s Empowerment

Matale District Councilor Mrs Rohini Kumari Wijeratne questioned in Parliament today (9) why Mrs. Ayesha Jinasena, the most qualified candidate for the position of Attorney General in terms of seniority, was not appointed to the position.

The councillor stated that while bills to empower women are being introduced for global recognition, they are not being implemented in practice. She also criticized the government for not wanting to give a place to women.
