Their lawyers informed the Colombo High Court that six defendants, including former Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, are expected to be released without calling evidence in connection with the investment of Rs 30 million in Govers corporate Ltd  when he was a parliamentary MP

This case was called before Colombo High Court Judge Mr. Navaratne Marasinghe today (11) where the prosecution’s evidence was concluded.

Defense lawyers, including the President’s counsel Gamini Marapana, who appeared for Namal Rajapaksa, made a request before the court and stated that they hope to make a request for the release of their clients without calling the evidence of the defense as there is not enough evidence against them.

Accordingly, the judge ordered that the statement be made on July 24.
