The Kopay Police have been temporarily removed from the area in accordance with an order issued by the Jaffna District Court.
The police station had been operating in eight houses belonging to civilians. The court has ordered that seven of those houses be returned to their respective owners.
According to the police, the prosecutor has handed over the houses to the owners today (15).
In the meantime, the Jaffna Police will temporarily handle complaints from residents of the affected area.
For security reasons, the armory of the Kopay Police has also been transferred to the Jaffna Police.
A senior police officer stated that the Kopay Police Station is expected to be re-established in approximately two months.
