In a significant diplomatic engagement, India’s Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan called on Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo today, underscoring the enduring strength of bilateral ties between the two nations.
The leaders held wide-ranging and productive discussions aimed at further deepening the multifaceted relationship between India and Sri Lanka—one rooted in centuries-old shared history, cultural affinity, and people-to-people connections.
During the meeting, the Indian Vice President reaffirmed New Delhi’s steadfast commitment to its “Neighbourhood First” policy, emphasizing continued cooperation and partnership for mutual benefit. The talks also highlighted key development initiatives, including the ongoing Indian Housing Project, which has played a pivotal role in post-war rehabilitation efforts across Sri Lanka.
Attention was also given to projects being implemented under India’s USD 450 million assistance package, particularly those aimed at rebuilding and supporting communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The meeting reflects a continued momentum in India–Sri Lanka relations, with both sides signalling a shared intent to expand cooperation across economic, developmental, and humanitarian fronts.
