Accordingly, it is reported that government authorities have initiated a special round of negotiations with the Singaporean government to repatriate former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran—now a Singaporean national—who is the main accused in the Central Bank bond scam.
Sources indicate that the objective of these talks is to resolve the legal obstacles under Singaporean law that have prevented Mahendran’s return to Sri Lanka.
The Mawrata newspaper has also learned from a reliable source that authorities have held a highly confidential discussion with Arjuna Mahendran regarding this matter.
In addition, it has been learned that a major behind-the-scenes operation has commenced, including an investigation into assets registered under the Rajapaksa family within the United States.
Several rounds of discussions have already taken place with multiple American government agencies, and it is understood that the U.S. side has given a positive response with regard to providing the relevant information.
Based on these developments, it is reported that the government is preparing to make a significant public disclosure in the near future.
