The Central Bank has decided to immediately launch an investigation into what it described as false, baseless, and legally unfounded statements made by Kasagala Green Plantation Company Director, Malwattage Ranjith Peiris, during an appearance on Independent Television.

According to recent reports, the Director of Kasagala Green Plantation stated in a state media interview that his institution is regulated by the Central Bank, and that all data, information, and reports are submitted to the Central Bank every six months. He further added that the Central Bank could be contacted for verification if necessary.

However, the Central Bank has issued a statement rejecting these claims, saying that the statements made are false.

The Central Bank also noted that it has taken immediate steps to initiate an investigation into the matter. This inquiry will cover several aspects, including verifying whether Kasagala Green Plantation has collected money from the public in any form.

The official announcement is provided below.
