The Student Activity Club of Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka proudly announced the launch of the 10th episode of Extravaganza 2024, the premier inter-university sports tournament, on the 12th of July 2024 at the Lavender Hall BMICH, followed by a press conference.
This year marks a significant milestone as Extravaganza celebrates its 10th anniversary, continuing its tradition of nurturing athletic potential and fostering camaraderie among students. The event aims to promote the spirit of sportsmanship among participants from over 50 state and non-state universities across the island. Serving as a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, learn from each other, and build lasting connections, Extravaganza extends its influence beyond the realm of sports.
Extravaganza 2024 tournaments will take place from 27th July to 8th of September, featuring seven weeks of fierce competition and thrilling matches. This year, we are excited to introduce Netball to our line-up, alongside Badminton, Cricket, Swimming, Basketball, Rugby, and Futsal. The addition of Netball reflects our commitment to encompassing a wider range of athletic talents and interests, ensuring that both participants and spectators will have something new and exciting to look forward to.
The launch ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests including Mr Sanath Martis, renowned coach for Sri Lanka National Rugby, Mr. Bandula Egodage, Chairman, APIIT Sri Lanka, Mr. Roshan Egodage, Mr. Gamindu Hemachandra, Chief Academic Officer, APIIT Sri Lanka, Dr. Hasuli Perera, Head of Business School, APIIT Sri Lanka, Dr. Chathura Warnasuriya, Head of Law School, APIIT Sri Lanka, Dr. Chaman Wijesiriwardana, Head of School of Computing, APIIT Sri Lanka, Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, Head of Graduate School, APIIT Sri Lanka along with students and staff of APIIT Sri Lanka.

This event transcends the boundaries of competition; it’s about uniting as a community to celebrate the power of sports to inspire and bring people together,” said Ms. Vithara Mannage, patron of the Student Activity Club.
The Student Activity Club of APIIT remains dedicated to organizing and promoting events that enhance the overall university experience for students. By fostering talent, creativity, and fellowship, the club continues to play a vital role in creating a vibrant and engaging campus environment.
