Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb 2023 comes to a racing conclusion

The 27th Eliyakanda Hill Climb organised and conducted by the Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) came to an exciting conclusion at Browns Hill in Matara recently. The National ICT solutions provider, SLT-MOBITEL, was the main sponsor of the event, which brought together the best drivers and riders in the country to compete for the coveted top spots.

The Eliyakanda Hill Climb has been a flagship event of the SMSC for the past 26 years and continues to attract motor racing enthusiasts from all over Sri Lanka. The 540-metre track at Eliyakanda is known for its challenging terrain, which provides an excellent opportunity for drivers and riders to showcase their skills and set new records.

Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb 2023 saw some outstanding performances by drivers and riders, with Ushan Perera winning the title of Best Driver of the Day and Fastest Timing of the Day in the SL GT Cars Up to 3500 CC category, clocking in at an impressive 32.659 seconds. Meanwhile, Sangeeth Suriyage set a new course record for Motorbike with his Super Motard 450cc with a time of 33.439 seconds, earning him the title of Best Rider of the day.

SLT-MOBITEL’s partnership with the SMSC has helped to elevate the Eliyakanda Hill Climb to new heights, making it one of the most exciting and anticipated motorsports events of the year.
