Conducts Tree Planting and Book Donation programs at Meerigama

Reaffirming its commitment to fulfilling its sustainable efforts in nurturing young minds, protecting the environment and creating a safer Sri Lanka for all, SLT-MOBITEL, continued its Environmental Social Governance (ESG) programs in the New Year with a Mee tree planting project followed by donation books at the Thavalampitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Meerigama.

Anuruddha Suriarachchi, General Manager – Marketing Services, several officials from SLT-MOBITEL, the Principal and staff members of the school including children and parents participated in the event

Meerigama Mee Tree planting is the 9th programme of SLT-MOBITEL ‘Rata Pura Husmai Pohorai Waga Karamu’ initiative which aims to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gases, and promote healthier soil. Under this project, 50 Mee Trees saplings were planted at the event. To-date SLT-MOBITEL has conducted similar programmes across the country including Monaragala, Umandawa, Anuradhapura, Kundasale etc.

During the event, SLT-MOBITEL donated books and commenced work to renovate the library, empowering over 400 students to enrich their knowledge and inculcate the habit of reading. SLT-MOBITEL’s ESG programme demonstrates the organisations focus on protecting the environment and improving the wellbeing of the society by helping to manage climate risks in a continually evolving landscape.
