People’s Bank organized a series of meritorious activities in Anuradhapura to mark the Poson Poya Day.
As part of this programme, for the 42nd consecutive year, People’s Bank offered Heel Daana (morning alms) to over 25,000 devotees observing Sil at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises. Additionally, for the 19th time, the Bank conducted the revered ‘Poson Bodhu Gee Saraniya’ at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.
This programme was organised in line with People’s Bank’s longstanding tradition of supporting national and religious observances, while also fostering the aesthetic talents of its staff members. The musical performance was directed by veteran musician Karunarathna Wijewardhana. The Bodhu Gee were performed by People’s Bank staff members together with students from Niwaththakachethiya Maha Vidyalaya. The initiative was spearheaded by the Bank’s Anuradhapura Regional Office.
In addition, People’s Bank staff offered a Gilanpasa Pooja to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, while the Nuwarawewa Branch organised an Ice Cream Dansela for the public.
The programme was held under the patronage of the Atamasthanadhipathi and Chief Sanghanayake of Nuwara Kalaviya, Most Venerable Dr. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, and the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Venerable Ethalawatunuwewe Gnanatilake Nayaka Thero.
The event was graced by People’s Bank Chairman Prof. Narada Fernando, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka, Head of Marketing Nalaka Wijayawardana, Deputy General Manager (Channel Management) Naleen Pathiranage, Deputy General Manager (Banking Support Services) Indumini Rathnayake, Anuradhapura Regional Manager Tissa Tennakoon, Assistant Regional Managers, government officials, and a large number of People’s Bank staff members.
