INSEE, Sri Lanka’s only fully integrated cement manufacturer and market leader, with flagship brands INSEE Sanstha and Mahaweli Marine Plus representing over 55 years of trust, achieved a triple triumph at the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2025, organised by the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB). The awards affirm INSEE’s commitment to environmental excellence and sustainable industrial practices.

At the Awards, INSEE (Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited) was honoured with ‘Sustainable Health & Safety Brand of the Year’ and ‘Sustainable Brand of the Year.’ INSEE Sanstha Cement received the award for ‘Sustainable Cement Brand of the Year.’

These awards align with INSEE’s unwavering commitment to driving meaningful change within its operations and throughout the industry. At INSEE, health and safety is a top priority and part of its culture. With health and safety embedded as a cultural cornerstone, INSEE drives #ZEROHARM ambition across all operations, ensuring the well-being of employees, partners, and communities. Similarly, for INSEE, sustainability is the foundation of how it operates. These recognitions also highlight the company’s leadership in sustainable practices and innovation in the construction industry.

INSEE drives sustainability through its ‘Sustainability Ambition 2030.’ A strategic framework built on three strategic pillars, such as Climate & Energy, Biodiversity & Water, Circular Economy, and two interconnected themes of Community & Stakeholder Engagement, and Occupational Health & Safety, all of which pave the way for a resilient and responsible future. From restoring quarries to thriving ecosystems, reducing water consumption across operations, and replacing fossil fuels with alternative waste-derived energy sources, sustainability is a core operational principle. INSEE Ecocycle, the company’s waste management arm, further strengthens the circular economy model, offering sustainable industrial waste solutions, reducing environmental impact, and promoting resource efficiency.

INSEE Cement steers the local building and construction industry towards low-carbon, environmentally responsible projects, introducing consistently high-quality, superior blended cement products and sustainable building materials through substantial investment in innovation and R&D.

Its flagship brand, INSEE Sanstha Cement, has evolved from Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to become the first to introduce Blended Cement in Sri Lanka, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and preserving valuable natural resources through reduced clinker content and industrial byproduct integration. As the first brand to introduce environmentally friendly Portland Composite Cement (PCC) (SLS 1697:2021) to the Sri Lankan market, INSEE Sanstha catalyzed a national shift towards more environmentally responsible building materials.

The Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2025 celebrated sustainable innovation and leadership in the construction ecosystem. Organized by the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) in partnership with the 13th World Construction Symposium and endorsed by the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing, the event celebrated sustainability excellence in construction while driving green innovation and industry transformation.

As a recipient of these accolades, INSEE continues to set the benchmark for sustainable excellence in Sri Lanka’s construction sector, inspiring progress across the industry through responsible innovation and environmental stewardship. We extend our sincere gratitude to all our stakeholders including customers, masons, technical officers, engineers, and contractors for their unwavering support and contribution toward the achievement, which reinforces our commitment to driving sustainability excellence and taking Sri Lanka’s construction industry forward.
