Hemas Group partners with Eco Spindles to establish two state-of-the-art Baling sites in Ampara and Colombo. This strategic collaboration aims to tackle the urgent issue of plastic pollution by collecting over 25,000 kilograms of plastic waste per month. The primary goal is to promote responsible plastic waste management practices in line with the Group’s Environmental Agenda.

With a strong commitment to offset its end consumer plastic waste, Hemas Group sees this partnership with Eco Spindles as a significant milestone in their efforts to collect and responsibly dispose of plastic waste. By investing in these two Baling sites, the company aims to enhance its plastic waste collection initiatives and actively support the national voluntary Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) initiative. These facilities will play a crucial role in fostering a circular economy model, minimizing waste and pollution, while also extending the useful life of products and materials. Additionally, the establishment of the two sites will create livelihood opportunities for surrounding communities, particularly waste collectors.

Moreover, Hemas Group has adopted a systematic approach to reduce the usage of plastic in their products, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to sustainable practices. Through these combined efforts, Hemas Group and Eco Spindles aim to make a positive impact on the environment, addressing plastic pollution, and fostering a more sustainable future.
