The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been ranked the ‘Most Awarded Corporate Entity’ in Sri Lanka in 2024 by LMD, conferring this accolade on Sri Lanka’s leading private sector bank for the second consecutive year.

According to LMD, Commercial Bank topped a list of the cream of the country’s corporate sector giants with a total of 115 awards, based on the magazine’s research and verification by the company.

“Our research identified 496 award-winning corporate entities – more than double the 227 featured in the previous edition – collectively securing 2,831 awards,” LMD said.

It said the study involved compiling a comprehensive list of awards won by entities featured in LMD’s 2024 special editions – viz. Brands Annual, Most Respected, Corporate Life (which includes the Corporate Happiness Index or CHI and Best Workplaces in Sri Lanka) and LMD 100 (2023/24).

Commenting on this accolade, Commercial Bank Managing Director/CEO Mr Sanath Manatunge said: “Commercial Bank has been the most awarded bank in Sri Lanka for many years, winning local and international awards for different aspects of performance, sustainability and compliance. Awards are a tribute to the Commercial Bank team and represent a testament to the quality of our services and our commitment to serve the varied needs of all stakeholder segments. Such awards and accolades from reputed institutions can significantly strengthen a company’s reputation by acting as third-party endorsements of its excellence, integrity, and impact.” Commercial Bank is the first Sri Lankan bank to be listed among the Top 1000 Banks of the World and has the highest market capitalisation in the Banking Sector in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).

The Bank is the largest private sector lender, the largest lender to the SME sector, a leader in digital innovation and is Sri Lanka’s first 100% carbon-neutral bank. Commercial Bank operates a strategically located network of branches and automated machines island-wide and has the widest international footprint among Sri Lankan banks, with 20 outlets in Bangladesh, a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake in the Maldives, and a Microfinance company in Myanmar. The Bank’s fully-owned subsidiary, CBC Finance Ltd., also delivers a range of financial services via its branch network
