The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been voted the ‘People’s Private Banking Services Brand of the Year’ for the third consecutive year at the SLIM Kantar People’s Awards 2025, in a significant validation of the Bank’s status as the most popular private sector bank in the country.

Presented by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and based on research by Kantar, a leading global insights agency, these awards are considered the ultimate testament to consumer-driven recognition in Sri Lanka. They are determined solely by consumer votes rather than a panel of experts and recognise the brands and personalities that have earned the trust and loyalty of Sri Lankans.

The Bank said this accolade is a testament to the continuing impact of its services in the lives of millions of people, as well as the effectiveness of the Bank’s brand-building efforts and marketing initiatives. The Bank’s continuous engagement with customers, innovative campaigns, and commitment to delivering superior banking experiences have been instrumental in securing this recognition.

Sri Lanka’s largest private sector bank and the most-awarded financial institution in the country, Commercial Bank directly serves more than four million customers and is the largest private sector lender and the largest lender to the SME sector in Sri Lanka.

The Bank devotes special attention to developing its brand, growing brand equity via strategically produced thematic communications, event sponsorships both at regional and national level, and through ground-breaking digital marketing campaigns.  The Bank ensures that it stays inclusive in all communications through multilingual advertising and also touches customers of all walks of life, leading the industry in terms of its corporate website and Instagram following, and holds leading positions in YouTube, Facebook and X.

Commercial Bank has also been ranked the “Most Respected Bank” in LMD’s annual “Most Respected Entities” list for 20 consecutive years.

For the purpose of these awards, the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) partners with Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and analytics company. Kantar conducts country-wide research and the award recipients are exclusively determined by people’s votes, with respondents to the survey invited to name their preferred brands and personalities across various categories, thereby honouring Sri Lanka’s most exceptional brands.

Commercial Bank is the first Sri Lankan bank to be listed among the Top 1000 Banks of the World and has the highest market capitalisation in the Banking Sector in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE). The Bank is a leader in digital innovation and is Sri Lanka’s first 100% carbon-neutral bank. Commercial Bank operates a strategically located network of branches and automated machines island-wide, and has the widest international footprint among Sri Lankan banks, with 20 outlets in Bangladesh, a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake in the Maldives, and a Microfinance company in Myanmar. The Bank’s fully-owned subsidiary CBC Finance Ltd., also delivers a range of financial services via its own branch network.
