The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Sri Lanka (CILT SL), the country’s leading professional body for logistics, supply chain, and transport, has been selected to host the CILT International Convention 2025, the flagship global event of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. This prestigious gathering will take place from 14–17 September 2025 at Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams, Colombo, under the theme “Future Ready Logistics: Embracing Change and Driving Sustainability.”

The convention is a landmark event in the global logistics and transport calendar, attracting over 150 delegates from more than 30 countries, including government officials, diplomats, global industry leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals from all modes of transport and supply chain disciplines. The four-day programme will feature keynote speeches from world-renowned experts, interactive workshops, and panel discussions exploring the latest trends, innovations, and challenges shaping the industry. Delegates will also enjoy valuable networking opportunities and attend the prestigious CILT Awards ceremony, which recognizes excellence in the profession. Cultural tours and experiences will showcase Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, further enhancing the event’s impact on tourism and related industries.

CILT SL President Chandima Hulangamuwa described hosting the convention as “a significant milestone for Sri Lanka and the global logistics community.” He noted that the event will explore advances in technology, supply chain strategies, circularity, and sustainability—critical themes in an interconnected, complex world. “With global delegates representing every facet of the industry, it will be an invaluable platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing innovations, and positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive logistics hub in the South Asian and Indian Ocean regions,” he added.

Convention Chairperson Gayathri Karunanayake emphasized the event’s focus on digitalization, sustainability, and resilience. “In an era shaped by shifting economic powers, pandemics, geopolitical tensions, climate change, and rapid technological advancement, adaptability and innovation are key differentiators,” she said. Bringing together local professionals and over a hundred foreign delegates from every continent, the convention aims to inspire transformative thinking, share best practices, and foster collaborations that will help industries thrive in the evolving global landscape.

Founded in London in 1919 in the aftermath of World War I, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is now active in over 30 countries, serving as the leading global professional body for individuals in logistics, supply chain, and transport. CILT is widely respected for its qualifications, training, and professional standards, which help develop world-class logistics professionals.

CILT Sri Lanka was established in 1984 as the Chartered Institute of Transport and achieved territorial status in 2012, reflecting its strong governance, leadership, and expanding membership. Guided by an experienced council of industry leaders, CILT SL plays a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s logistics and transport landscape. It also operates two dynamic sub-wings: WiLAT (Women in Logistics and Transport), which champions gender diversity and women’s empowerment, and the Next Generation Forum, which nurtures leadership and innovation among young professionals.
