Ceylinco Life has become the first insurance company to open a purpose-built branch on company-owned land in Nittambuwa, reflecting the company’s long-term strategy of investing in high-quality, eco-friendly infrastructure to enhance customer experience and service standards.

The life insurance leader has also taken another step forward in its commitment to sustainable expansion with the opening of this new branch in Nittambuwa, the 34th company-owned building in the company’s island-wide network.

Located at No. 251/B/4, Colombo Road, Horagolla Watta, Nittambuwa, the new branch was declared open recently by Ceylinco Life Chairman Mr. R. Renganathan and Managing Director/CEO Mr. Thushara Ranasinghe, in the presence of directors and senior management.

The spacious three-storey building, with a floor area of 5,750 square feet, has been constructed using the low-cost prefabricated concrete technology developed by the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD). In keeping with the company’s ongoing Green initiative, the Nittambuwa branch incorporates a host of energy-efficient and environment-conscious features, including a rainwater harvesting facility, a sewerage treatment plant that recycles water for toilet flushing and gardening, and energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems.

In a first for the company’s branch network, the Nittambuwa building is designed to operate with a 100% self-sufficient solar electricity system that will eliminate dependence on the national grid. The design also maximises natural light and ventilation, uses interlocking blocks with grass to increase greenery, and ensures that no trees were cut during construction. Existing trees were integrated into the building’s layout, the Company said.

The property offers ample parking for more than ten vehicles, a landscaped garden area, and provisions for future expansion. It stands as a model for modern, sustainable construction in the financial services sector.

Commenting on the new branch, Ceylinco Life Managing Director/CEO Mr Thushara Ranasinghe said: “As the market leader in life insurance and one of Sri Lanka’s most respected corporate entities, we remain dedicated to providing exceptional customer service in welcoming, environmentally responsible surroundings. Our investment in purpose-built, company-owned branches demonstrates our belief in long-term value creation for both our customers and the planet.”

Among the branch buildings owned by Ceylinco Life are those in Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamaharama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena, Mount Lavinia, Wellawatte, Matugama and Nugegoda many of which have already been converted to solar energy. Among the new branch buildings purpose-built to the company’s sustainable energy model are those at Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Wennappuwa, Bandarawela, Ratnapura (New Building), Horana, Panadura, Chilaw, Kadawatha, Jaffna (North Wing), Malabe, Divulapitiya, Negombo (New Building), Nelliady, Piliyandala, Ja-Ela, Minuwangoda and Nittambuwa.

Ceylinco Life operates the largest network of 253 branches in Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry, giving it a physical presence in 121 cities, towns and villages in 24 districts.

The Company has been the market leader in Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry for 21 consecutive years, offering innovative insurance solutions that protect and de-risk the ambitions of policyholders. Earlier this year, Ceylinco Life was ranked the most valuable insurance brand in Sri Lanka and the 22nd most valuable brand overall by Brand Finance. It was also voted the People’s Life Insurance Service Provider of the Year for the 19th consecutive year in 2025, reaffirming its status as the brand trusted by millions.

The company was adjudged Sri Lanka’s Brand of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and was recognised among the 10 Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka in 2023 by the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
