The British Council Sri Lanka recently held the IELTS Partner Meet 2026 to honour and recognise the dedication of its partners over the past year. As the world’s leading English language test, IELTS is accepted by over 12,500 institutions globally, providing a valuable gateway for students seeking higher education, professional, career, and migration opportunities.
Through the unwavering support of its partners, the British Council has helped students, parents, and professionals navigate their study and travel plans abroad, making their journeys smoother and more successful. Partners not only facilitate IELTS registration through the British Council but also provide crucial preparation support, helping candidates achieve the scores necessary for success. This collaboration has been invaluable for the British Council.
The British Council continues to recognise that closer collaboration with its partners is essential, particularly as IELTS transitioned to a fully computer-delivered test last year. This shift offers candidates greater convenience and flexibility in their experience. The British Council has supported our delivery partners throughout this transition.
Duncan Wilson, Acting Director Exams for British Council Sri Lanka, emphasised the importance of quality in the partnership: “In such a competitive education market, our goal should always be to strengthen our offerings and stay ahead by focusing on quality,” he said.
With nine modern test centres across the country including, the British Council offers a convenient and accessible way for candidates to achieve IELTS success. As a test designed, developed, and maintained by Cambridge University, IELTS is continuously improved by experts from the UK, with the British Council delivering the test globally.
The forum also featured a panel discussion where all speakers emphasised the need for candidates to allow themselves adequate time before booking a test date in order to be able to focus on improving their overall English fluency and accuracy, as well as doing lots of practice for the test itself.
The event culminated with the presentation of awards to top-tier partners across four categories. The Bronze Tier Award was presented to Headway School of Languages (Pvt) Ltd, DMI Computer Education, Australian College of Business & Technology, British Win Academy (Pvt) Ltd (in descending order), and Silver to Nations Victory Campus.
Exisiting partner British Win Academy and new partner Victoria Campus received awards for growth excellence. A special award, Rising Star Woman Entrepreneur was presented to Dinukshi Hettige – Head of Academics and Lead Consultant – Colombo International Study Consultancy.
The top three performers in the island were DMI Computer Education as the 2nd runner-up, Headway School of Languages as the 1st runner-up, and Nations Victory Campus as the overall winner.
The British Council’s continued recognition of its partners underscores the importance of forward-looking momentum in growth, digital transformation and expanding access while ensuring the success of students and professionals seeking opportunities abroad.
