The Benedict XVI International Institute of Higher Education, better known as the BCI Campus, is a Ministry of Education and UGC recognized private degree-awarding institute located in Negombo, offering several in-demand degree programs and undergraduate pathways to obtain them. These degrees are offered under the Schools of Business, School of Computing and School of Education and International Pathway Division including various Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management, IT, Primary and Early Childhood Education, and Liberal Arts. To name a few:
- Bachelor of Business Management Honors
- Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information Technology
- Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Software Engineering
- Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Primary Education
- Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Early Childhood
- Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts (Campion College – Australia)
The Institute, recognizing the needs of parents and students looking for higher education that is accessible and affordable, has immediately responded to help students apply for the interest-free student loan scheme announced by the Ministry of Education last week, having set up an office with counsellors who will advise students and assist them to complete the online applications, on time before the August 7th deadline.
Students who have passed the GCE Advanced Level examination in 2019, 2020 and 2021 may apply for a loan that virtually covers their annual fees, if they have met minimum eligibility criteria as specified including English capability. The loan covers the full course fee of the 4-year degree, i. e. Rs. 800,000 at 0% interest rate; a golden offer. Moreover, there’s a grace period of 5 years with no single payment during the study period, and another 7 years of payback period (altogether 12 years to settle the loan at 0% interest). The students can also obtain additional Rs 300,000 for their living expenses. While a parent and close relative may act as guarantors for the loan, there is no imposing economic status requirement for them, thus allowing most qualified students to apply.
Successful students may attend as day students if living in neighboring areas such as Negombo, Gampaha or Minuwangoda, while on-campus or close-by accommodation is provided to students coming from distant areas or overseas.
The campus provides multiple lecture rooms, lounges and halls for seminars; a library with spaces for individual and collaborative study; state-of-the-art IT laboratories and auditorium; indoor and open environment-friendly dining areas; and recreational spaces – both indoor and outdoor on its sprawling and relaxing campus.
Students may contact the Institute to apply for a degree programme and loan scheme easily through the Institute’s website https://www.bci.lk/ or call the Office on 031 20 35 100 or 0 31 222 44 22 or Hotlines 070 6035 100 and 076 6989 797.
