President Ranil Wickramasinghe yesterday invited 74 MPs whose houses were burnt due to the recent riots to come for a special discussion this evening.
Yesterday afternoon, there was hesitation among the Pohottu councilors whether to participate in this discussion or not, and a final decision was to be taken this morning.
Accordingly, it has been learned that by this morning, 44 MPs had confirmed that they would participate in the meeting.
However, only 34 MPs attended the evening meeting.
It has been learned that the President, who has been informed to fill and submit the forms for compensation for the damages that have occurred during this discussion, has stated that he will take steps to approve and provide the compensation money by the Parliament.
