Parliament is scheduled to reconvene today (21).
The Parliament Secretariat stated that the House will meet at 9.30 a.m. under the patronage of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
Two resolutions are scheduled to be debated today under Standing Orders 119 and 120 of Parliament for approval.
From 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., Parliament is scheduled to debate a special motion on referring the investigation report prepared by the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) to the Attorney General regarding the scheme to issue licences for Sri Lankans employed abroad to import fully electric vehicles.
A debate will also be held on referring allegations of bribery or corruption to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for necessary legal action in relation to matters revealed during investigations conducted by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).
Thereafter, from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., Parliament is scheduled to debate an adjournment motion on the performance of the Committee on Public Petitions.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Opposition has decided to submit its no-confidence motion against Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara to the Speaker today.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Ajith P. Perera stated that all Opposition parties are scheduled to jointly present the relevant no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, a special discussion involving all Opposition parties is scheduled to be held the day after tomorrow.
MP Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that the discussion will be held under the patronage of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
