The Supreme Court has decided to dismiss, without hearing, a fundamental rights petition seeking to invalidate circulars that permit women and men to change their gender.
Former Presidents Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe, as well as current President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, were named as respondents in the petition.
The fundamental rights petition was filed by Shantha Jayathilake, a retired disabled officer of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
However, the Supreme Court has decided to dismiss the petition without hearing it.
