Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has taken steps to summon all opposition political parties, both represented and unrepresented in Parliament, to the Opposition Leader’s Office next Thursday (23).
It is reported that the Opposition Leader has taken steps to summon all opposition parties to Colombo to launch a major campaign against the government’s attempt to extend the retirement age of the Chief Justice and High Court judges by two years.
Accordingly, it is learned that the Opposition Leader contacted the leaders of all opposition parties by telephone last week to extend the invitation.
It is also learned that all party leaders have responded positively to the invitation.
The Judicial Service Association, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, the Asian Bar Association and the Commonwealth Bar Association have already taken steps to express their opposition to the government’s attempt.
