The National Dengue Control Unit says that the number of dengue patients reported in Sri Lanka during the past year has exceeded 73,000.
According to the unit, the number of dengue patients reported in the country continued to increase as of yesterday (16), with a total of 73,455 cases and 50 dengue-related deaths reported.
A total of 1,025 dengue patients were reported yesterday (16) alone.
The highest number of patients has been reported from the Western Province, where 38,700 cases have been recorded.
Within the Western Province, the highest number of patients has been reported from the Gampaha District, with 15,341 cases.
Meanwhile, 14,625 patients have been reported from the Colombo District.
In addition, 18,076 dengue cases have been reported during the first 16 days of July.
The highest number of dengue cases reported during the past year was recorded in June, when 21,538 cases were reported.
