A total of 2,376 child abuse and child protection-related complaints were reported in Sri Lanka during the first three months of 2026.
According to available data, 1,884 of these complaints were received under the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) Act, while the remaining 492 complaints were recorded under various other categories.
Among the major forms of abuse reported under the NCPA Act, 85 complaints were related to sexual harassment.
Authorities further noted that there may be discrepancies between the total number of crimes reported and the number of complaints recorded at the district level, as a single complaint can involve one or more types of offences.
