A special meeting was held today (10) between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and a delegation from the US House Democracy Partnership (HDP) at the Office of the Opposition Leader in Parliament. Sri Lanka Latest News
The delegation from the US House Democracy Partnership is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka and is meeting with several prominent political figures during their stay.
During the discussions, both sides focused on parliamentary cooperation, democratic governance, legislative processes, and opportunities to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the United States. They also held extensive exchanges of views on state policy development, as well as the current political and economic challenges facing Sri Lanka. The meeting further contributed to enhancing democratic cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
The US delegation was represented at the event by Megan Moore (HDP), Megan Carroll (Congressional Budget Office), Christy Holly Anthony (Congressional Budget Office), Jane Howell (Chargé d’Affaires, U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka), Adam Michelo (Political Officer, U.S. Embassy), Chathurie Dissanayake (Political Specialist, U.S. Embassy), and Aaron Yost (Political Fellow, U.S. Embassy).
