The opposition is preparing to submit two no-confidence motions in Parliament against two senior government figures, according to reliable sources cited by the Mawrata newspaper. Sri Lanka Latest News
Accordingly, the motions are expected to be brought against President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is also serving as the Minister of Finance, and Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara.
Sources state that the no-confidence motion against the Finance Minister is linked to the alleged transfer of US$2.5 million from the Treasury into a fraudulent foreign account.
Meanwhile, the motion against Aruna Jayasekara is reportedly based on claims that he was serving as the Eastern Commander at the time of the Easter Sunday attacks and failed to take action to prevent them.
It is further reported that the opposition is planning to begin collecting signatures for both no-confidence motions next week.
