The Inland Revenue Department has announced that it collected tax revenue totaling Rs. 606,002 million during the first quarter of 2026.
According to the department, this represents a 17.7 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
The revenue was generated through multiple tax streams, including income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and the social security contribution tax.
Notably, the department also stated that 25 percent of the total targeted tax revenue for 2026 has already been achieved within the first quarter of the year.
