Foreign media reports that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a special telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, amid the current regional unrest.
During the discussion, the two leaders focused on the ongoing crisis situation. President Dissanayake expressed Sri Lanka’s solidarity with the Emir during this challenging period faced by the State of Qatar.
In the course of the conversation, the Emir of Qatar highlighted two key points. He assured the President of the welfare and security of Sri Lankan workers and residents currently living in Qatar.
Furthermore, the Emir stated that Qatar remains committed to continuing its fuel supply to Sri Lanka in a stable manner, despite the prevailing conflict situation.
