A three-member panel comprising Iran’s President, the Head of the Judiciary, and a lawyer from the Guardian Council has temporarily assumed all leadership responsibilities of the country, according to Iran’s official news agency, IRNA.
In a separate report, IRNA stated that Ali Shamkhani — a senior political advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Secretary of Iran’s Security Council — was killed in a US-Israeli attack on Tehran.
The agency further reported that Mohammad Pakpour, the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, was also killed in the attack.
