Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake strongly condemned the forcible arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by US President Donald Trump, expressing his objection in Parliament. The minister emphasised that President Trump’s actions, including this controversial arrest, have drawn sharp criticism and concern.
Ratnayake also pointed out that the United States has withdrawn from the Colombo Plan, a development that is having negative consequences for Sri Lanka. According to the minister, Washington’s decision to pull out of the multilateral development initiative could adversely affect the country’s interests.
