Two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft belonging to the 36th Contingency Response Group (CRG) of the United States Air Force arrived at Katunayake yesterday (7) afternoon to support Sri Lanka’s disaster management efforts following Cyclone Ditva, Sri Lanka Latest News reports.
The two aircraft, operated by U.S. airmen, will provide immediate transportation and logistics support to areas designated by the Disaster Management Center for distributing goods and other essential services.
Issuing a statement on its official Facebook page, the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka said:
“The United States is pleased to deploy two C-130 aircraft and our military’s finest logistics specialists to Sri Lanka to assist in disaster relief efforts following the storm. Logistics are essential to any large-scale operation — U.S. Indo-Pacific Command teams will be distributing essential supplies across the country in coordination with the Sri Lanka Air Force to assist where they are needed most.
