A plane carrying disaster relief donated by the Government and people of India arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (29), delivering essential supplies for those affected by the ongoing disaster.
The shipment includes nearly 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid such as tents, blankets, hygiene kits, and food items, which were officially received by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
In addition, another Indian aircraft carrying 9 tonnes of relief materials—including blankets, mats, mosquito nets, solar lamps, tents, female dignity kits—and a team of officers from the Indian National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also arrived in the country this morning.
India has taken this step with the intention of further strengthening Indo-Sri Lankan relations.
