1000 acres in Ratnapura ready to grow cannabis. The Ministry of Health will make a Cabinet proposal to build a 10,000-acre cannabis farm in Ratnapura district.
Mr. Sisira Jayakodi, Minister of State for Local Medicine, proposed this suggestion through the Ministry of Health.
On October 5, the proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet.
The Minister of State told a weekend English daily that there is a high market for cannabis in Western countries, and that exporting cannabis is a terrific way to generate foreign currency at a time when the country is suffering from a serious economic crisis.
