The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced that it will launch a trade union action from 8 a.m. today (17), based on several key demands. Sri Lanka Latest News
According to the GMOA, this decision was taken in protest against the government’s failure to adequately address long-standing issues faced by the health service and medical professionals in the budget presented by the President for the 2026 financial year.
The union action will include several measures such as refraining from issuing prescriptions for patients to obtain medicines that are unavailable in hospitals, not providing recommendations for laboratory tests to be conducted externally, and not participating in any additional clinics other than the routine daily clinics.
