Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See, will make an official visit to Sri Lanka from November 3 to 8, 2025.
The visit comes at the invitation of Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism of Sri Lanka, to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Holy See.
During his stay, Archbishop Gallagher is scheduled to meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. He will also hold official discussions with Minister Vijitha Herath.
A special commemorative event celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties is planned in Colombo, where Archbishop Gallagher will deliver an address.
The Archbishop’s programme will also include visits to sites of cultural and religious significance, including churches that were affected by the Easter Sunday attacks in 2019.
